Children aged 1 to 12 can discover their creative talents through participating in a variety of unique creative art workshops. Our hands-on approach encourages learning & helps children take pride in their creative choices.

With limited art resources available in school The Laughing Trunk Inc. provides children with the opportunity to get creative and hands on with their learning. Whether at one of our centres or us coming to you, are programs deliver dynamic results, the children amaze themselves with their newly uncovered talents.

Small glimpse of some of our programs

Part Time Morning and Afternoon Program from ages 2 ½ – 5

This creative learning program will include weekly themes that will focus on encouraging creativity and self expression while learning preschool fundamentals. Small class size.

Monday to Friday from 9:30am-12:00pm or 1:00pm-3:30pm – Chooses any two, three, or five days.

Enhanced Learning Program for Ages 4-6 (small class size)

This program will provide hands-on learning experiences that will strengthen academic and social skill development. Every two months new topics will be introduced as the main focus and learning concepts will be reinforced through stories, songs, art, etc. 2 days a week

• September and October (Letters and Numbers)
• November and December (Shapes and Colours)
• January and February (Math and Science)
• March and April (All About Me and Community – Field trip included)
• May and June (Reading and Writing)

Afterschool Program for school aged children

During this program children will be offered assistance with their homework and enjoy making creative projects that will focus on encouraging self expression and reinforcing their learning while having fun. Arranged pick-up from Churchill Meadows Public School or St. Faustina Elementary Schools available.

School dismissal up to 6:00pm

• 2 days – $40.00 per week
• 3 days – $58.50 per week
• 5 days – $95.00 per week

Parent Date Nights

While the parents are away the children can play. Parents can enjoy a night out alone and now their children can to! Children will have fun playing games, creating works of art and socializing with peers over pizza.

Language Programs

Learn French as a 2nd Language (Ages 3-5 and Ages 6-8)

This language programs will introduce children to the French language through hands-on and interactive activities. Songs, games and crafts will be used to help reinforce concepts and language learned.

Drama Program

Acting Out (Ages 5 to 8 )

This program offers drama instruction that will help children improve on their co-operative and listening skills as they learn the basics of performing including stage direction.

Imagination Train (Ages 3 to 5)

All aboard!! Each week our imagination will take us to a different destination as we join in the story. Songs, games and crafts all included to help us along the way.

Science Programs

The Art of Science (Ages 3 to 6)

Explore the wonderful world of science through hands-on experiments, from colours to rainbows to how a plant grows we will discover it all and create amazing take home projects.

Art Programs

Junior Artist Series (Ages 6 to 10)

Children will enjoy learning basic techniques while they explore the wonderful world of art. Each series puts focus on a different art mediums and will provide the children with opportunity for free expression.

• Learn to Draw (8 weeks)
• Watercolours (4 weeks)
• Sculptures (6 weeks)

Junior Artist Club (Ages 6-10)

This 10 week program will have children learning, exploring and creating masterpieces through painting, sculpting and more. At the end of the 10 weeks the children will put on an art show for their families.

Van Gogh’s Canvas (Ages 4 to 6)

Explore the world of colour and paint with experimenting and creating masterpieces using a variety of different painting techniques and materials. Children will begin creating their own gallery of unique works of art! 6 weeks

Canvas Creations (Ages 6 to 8 )

Children become junior artists creating masterpieces on canvas while learning a variety of paint techniques. 6 weeks

Junior Author Workshop (Ages 7 to 12)

Write your own book!! Children will create their own hardcover storybook during a 6 series workshop. Children will be guided through imagining, planning and creating their own story. The end result a story book that will last a lifetime!!

Life Skills

Life Skills Series

Giving children the essential tools to succeed in life. This series will provide interactive and practical experiences for the children to get hands-on and discover their full potential. Sign up for one series or both.Lead by a Child and Youth Worker

Communication – (Ages 8 to 12)

This program will help build children’s confidence and self-esteem as they learn tools to effectively communicate with their friends, teachers and family.

Problem Solving – (Ages 8 to 12)

Children will learn steps to help solve problems in a satisfactory way and will also learn the rules for fighting fair.

The Art of Math (Ages 4-6) 6 sessions

Children will enjoy learning the strands of math as they explore how math is all around us. Concepts will be reinforced while playing games, singing songs and creating projects.

Junior Chefs – (Ages 3-5 & 6-8) 6 sessions

Children will enjoy learning about kitchen etiquette while making fun things to eat! Cool crafts, educational activities based on the Canada Food Guide, and learning about place setting, will all be a part of the fun. New activities include making festive treats!

Under Three Programs

Tiny Messes (Ages 2 to 3) – 30 minutes – 4 weeks

Explore the wonderful world of mess as children will explore art and sensory activities in this 30 minute program.

Art and Music Time (Ages 1-2 , Ages 2-3, Babies 6mths-1yr with Sibling) – 45minutes 6 sessions

Children will enjoy singing songs, playing instruments and creating works of art. Each week new activities will be introduced and children will have an opportunity to use the parachute. See calendar for dates and times.

Junior Explorers

Ages 2-3 with parent. Children will explore the world around them as they sing, dance, touch and create.

Discovery Zone

Ages 1-2 with parent. Participate in song and sensory activities together with your child and begin to discover the little wonders of the world. Each week we introduce new concepts. 6 weeks

Home Schooling Programs (Ages 4 to 12)

Children who are Home Schooled can join us twice a month for a special workshop covering areas of science, math, art and drama. Look on the calendar to what fun and interactive topics will be covered.
